Introducing the latest Valentine’s themed edition to the site: Beginner Valentine’s Music “Love Notes” Bundle!
This bundle of Valentine’s Day themed music is designed for beginner students and features a mix of Pre-Reading music sheets and On-Staff music sheets. This collection of music keeps things fresh and new with engaging lyrics, catchy tunes, and of course, original and adorable illustrations. I’ve been humming the music all week! This music can supplement your regular method books, or can be used a fun sight reading practice during this week’s lesson.

Within this collection are songs about passing out Valentine’s cards to songs about dancing dinosaurs and robots. As a mother of two young boys, I wanted to make sure I created a diverse range of Valentine’s Day topics that would appeal to more students, and avoid just hearts, hugs, and kisses.
Level Difficult
Within the “beginner” label, there’s a slight range of difficulty. I would categorize this as “Early Elementary” and each song gives you options for your students who may or may not have been introduced to certain notes. For instance, if a student hasn’t learned the treble G above middle C, this collection has options for your student. “Beep Boop!”, a song about a valentine robot, even provides an opportunity for students to practice playing two notes simultaneously—something my son was really looking forward to learning.
While composing this music, I tried to keep it appropriate for new learners and considered the following: steps versus skips, middle C and nearby note starting positions, avoiding 8th notes, 3/4 and 4/4 key signatures, and numerous other considerations (with a more extensive list available in the product description). As you know, every student learns at a different pace. Many students simply need more practice through repetition and I hope that the music bundles offered at Susan Paradis Piano Teaching Resources help provide that opportunity for your students. My goal is that this fresh collection becomes a useful addition to your curriculum and finds its place with some of your students this year!
Pre-Reading vs On-Staff
Originally, I wanted to make a collection of just pre-reading music, but I felt some of the pieces really lent themselves to an on-staff version. That is why you will find a mix in this bundle. Some songs come in both pre-reading and on-staff while others are offered just as one or the other.
The Pre-Reading music is color coded for right and left hand. Fingering is written for every note to help enforce memorization of the finger numbers and to help students who haven’t quite memorized the letter names of each key on the keyboard. Some of the pre-reading even has the letter names engraved onto the notes to help students start making those connections. There is a “L.H” and “R.H.” tag before each time the music switches from left to right hand.
The On-Staff music is engraved with simplicity in mind. There are not very many extra symbols beyond the basics so that a student can feel comfortable and less intimidated when given the new piece.
