Music by the Number
🎈🎶 Music by the Number is a new board game I designed recently for music students. The objective is to help students group music vocabulary words into categories and to understand the meaning of the categories. Do you ever have students who, when you ask the key of the music, say 4|4? They know some keys, but they get mixed up which word means what! This game helps students who frequently get music vocabulary words such as key signature, time signature, note values, dynamics, or tempo mixed up. I had this same problem when I was a young student and it can take a lot of review before some students keep it in their long term memory. This game can be played with the teacher and student or with a group. It’s perfectly OK to give hints in educational piano games because it is going to help them learn. I’ve included an answer chart with frequently used music vocabulary words. Complete instructions are included.
There are a total of 5 pages including two pages of category cards (five from each category), one game board, one page of game instructions and one page of answers.
