My New Laminator

laminatorI was at WalMart the other day and I saw this laminator for $23.44.  Since I have so many games and cards that I like to laminate, my husband urged me to buy it. He said he could use it  for laminating his hiking maps and photographs.  I came home and immediately tried it out and I am very impressed. It was easy and did a very professional job. I lamintated card stock game boards for one of my games and they were very sturdy. The machine is not big and it heated up in about 8 minutes. The laminating pouches roll through easily on their own. The letter-size (8.5 X 11) pouches are sold in packs of 20 and cost $ 7.77  which is about 34 cents each. The 5 X 7 size of laminating pouches were only $2.38 for a pack of 20.  It’s very hot in Texas some parts of the year (not now!),  and the students’ hands tend to cause the ink to run on my games and flash cards if I don’t laminate them. Those of you in cooler climates may not have this problem.

If you’re on a strict budget, this might be too expensive for you. In that case, you can laminate with the clear book covers that I mention a lot.

I agree with Savithri. Aldi has special deals on school supplies, including laminating pouches and laminators (usually in January and August-September).
I’ve had 3 laminators now. The first two were front feeders and things tended to get scrunched up sometimes.
My current one is a back feeder and works so much better.
My feeding tray attaches and detaches simply.
But my laminator is permanently set up between my computer screen and my printer. I use all of them that often.

  2. Hi Susan
I love your website. It is full of ideas and thanks for sharing them with everyone. I have the same laminator but I buy my pouches from Sam’s club. They are much cheaper. A box of 200 is $20.00 plus tax. If you have a friend who is a memeber of Sam’s club buy from there.

I have the same laminator. I use is all the time! I am an elementary music teacher teaching in Kansas. I have also taught private flute students. This laminator has traveled with me from Iowa to Arkansas-and now to Missouri(my husband is a pastor). I love it and it has always worked for me.

Not only do I use it for teaching materials, but I also use it to laminate zoo passes, business cards, craft items for my kids, and other important items for home use. I have a 7, 5, and 4 year old. Instead of trying to find the space for every color page/picture they make for us, we put them together on a piece of card stock and laminate them. Then we can put one laminated “piece of memory” onto the refrigerator – which eventually goes into their memory box for that season/month and it saves space. (They also have a fun time putting the layers together).

It is worth every penny! Since I knew I would have a move I kept the original box and packing material. It handled the move perfectly.

      Thanks for your comments.
I can’t get mine back in the box because the paper feeding tray will not come off once I put it on. It won’t fit in the box with the feeding tray attached. If anyone has any ideas how to store it, please let me know!
