Note Identification Every Season

Seasonal Note Identification Bundle

Do note spellers have relevance for music teachers in this day and age? Even the name “note speller” has an old fashioned sound, like something from the 19th century when children wrote on chalk boards. Surely there is something more modern, some clever app or a cute game! On the other hand, many of the most beautiful music written for our instrument are over two-hundred years old without the use of anything electronic, so maybe a simple note speller is quite useful. What we need is a little something more to catch the eye of our students!

Since students love holidays, there are 13 cute pages in this Seasonal Note Identification Bundle, each decorated with a different holiday or season. Every page has all the notes on the grand staff arranged differently and in random order. To make it more fun, the notes are represented by a unique icon from the season or holiday.

Variations:

•  Beginners who haven’t learned note names can write L and S for line and space.
•  After a few months of practice you can time students so they can see how they improve each month.
•  To save paper and ink, make one copy and either laminate it or put it in a clear page protector. Place it on a table with some dry erase markers and students can do it while they wait for lessons or for parents to pick them up.

Holidays include:

🎉 New Years
❤️ Valentine’s Day
☘️ St. Patrick’s Day
🐇 Easter
🌸 May
☀️ Summer
🌟 Patriotic
🍎 August
🐿 Autumn
🎃 Halloween
🦃 Thanksgiving
🎁 Christmas
🕎 Hanukkah

Learning note names can take a long time so we need to think of different and creative ways to help the process along.
