Halloween Is Almost Here is a Halloween piece with lyrics and optional teacher duet for early elementary students. This easy-to-learn piece in A minor has the melody divided between the hands in “near C” position. Finger numbers are included. Hands stay in one position except the left hand moves down an octave once. There are no eighth notes. This is a good first recital piece because it has (only a few) staccatos and dynamics so students have an opportunity to play with expression. A student who has almost finished a primer level (first) method book should be able to play it. The staccatos are not hard but they can be omitted if the student is not technically ready for them. The lyrics are child-centered, fun, and upbeat. The 8-measure version of this piece was originally on my website.
