Rhythm Heart Beats

Description

❤️ Rhythm Heart Beats is an activity sheet to teach students how to listen to simple rhythm patterns and then write them down. It will also help students learn the difference between the steady beat and rhythm and includes and easy way to teach eighth notes. When students learn to write what they hear, their rhythm ability is internalized and greatly improved. Rhythm dictation is not hard for students as long as the teacher prepares them before proceeding to more difficult patterns. The hearts printed on the page are a guide for writing the rhythm on the steady beat.

Perhaps you didn’t learn how to take rhythmic dictation when you took piano or you are home schooling and are not sure how to go about it. These sheets and the included instructions are all you need to get started. For teachers experienced in rhythmic dictation, this makes it fast and easy to help beginners without a lot of prep time. Place the pages in sheet protectors and use erasable markers to have a set always ready! Print as many copies as you need. There is a bonus non-decorated black and white page for older students to take 4-measure dictation.

Included is a 3-page instruction booklet that explains how to teach rhythm dictation, how to teach 8th notes, and one, two, and four measure examples in 3|4 and 4|4 meters you can use.

Objective

The objective of Rhythm Heart Beats is to learn how to listen to simple one and two measure rhythm patterns and write the rhythm.

Level

This activity is for all ages of children who can read and clap simple rhythm values. There is also a bonus page for intermediate students.
