Levels & Difficulty

I always hesitate when I must assign a “level” or “difficulty” to one of my products. The difficulty levels are just guidelines. Students have unique challenges and may need additional support on any concept, regardless of their “level”. Method books vary in how they categorize levels and when they introduce different concepts. So go ahead and make these funsheets work for you and your students – after all, you know them best!

Hopefully, the multi-level nature of this funsheet bundle means you will be able to purchase it once and use it for many different students in your studio!

Creating the South Pole Funsheets

I was inspired to create a winter-themed art motif that could carry on past the holiday season allowing piano teachers to get a little more bang for their buck. There is a lot of Christmas themed materials already on the site, so I wanted to make something that might appeal to even more people.

I took a poll on my Instagram account (@SusanParadis) with a few options, and the majority of you voted for: PENGUINS! I decided to take this a little further and make it “South Pole” so I could include an orca and a seal into the mix. (Yes, I had to google: “Do seals live in the south pole?”

The next step was choosing which topics I wanted to address and creating the framework for each funsheet page. I really enjoy this part because a lot of my background in my previous career (animation and video game production) prepared me well for this, such as considering the layout and user experience for each funsheet.

Then it was penguin time! For those who are curious, I drew my penguins mostly on my iPad pro using Procreate. This is my preferred method of creating digital art assets these days. After the initial drawings are created, I move those files over to Photoshop where I format the worksheets and bring the art and educational materials altogether into one cute product.

The art on Susan Paradis Piano Teaching Resources is currently a mixture of my mother’s drawings, licensed art, and just a little bit of my art (much of it created back when I was still an art student). One of my goals for this store is to slowly go in and replace the licensed art with custom art created by me. I’d love to be able to point to my shop and tell you it’s all custom drawn art designed specifically for each product. That will definitely be the case moving forward with new products!

How do I choose which topics to include in a funsheet bundle?

I get the ideas from you! I receive wonderful emails from our sweet community. You share with me very useful feedback and often ideas and requests for things you’d like to see more of. I add it to my list of ideas and try to create things that you would find most useful! So, if you feel like there is a hole in your piano teaching curriculum and you’d like to see a specific topic covered as part of a funsheet bundle, let me know! Filling out the contact page goes directly to my email inbox. I see myself as an artist musician put on this earth to serve piano teachers.

I’ve never done this before…. FREE GIVEAWAYS!

For the first 12 orders of the South Pole Funsheet, I will mail those customers this adorable coordinating sticker sheet! If you are one of the first 12 orders, I will contact you through your account email to confirm your address. I will also update everyone on my Instagram and Facebook when the 12 orders are completed and end the giveaway. Unfortunately, this giveaway is only eligible to customers in the USA. I’m very sorry about that because I ADORE my international community, but I’m still learning about shipping physical items internationally — and y’all… it’s complicated and expensive! I hope to change this in the future!

Penguin Sticker Sheet
Sticker Sheet Giveaway!

I made these little sticker sheets in my studio myself because I just had to do something else with these cute penguins drawings. I recently purchased a Silhouette cutting machine, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. You can use them yourself or pass them along to a student as a prize or your host your own giveaway within your studio! And if you like this sort of thing, let me know in the comments below! I really enjoy making the sticker sheets.

For each product I release, I’ve been creating a reel to demo it. See the printed version of the South Pole Funsheets in this video:
