St. Patrick’s Day Fun for Piano Students
☘️ Here is a list of music material in the store just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!
There are ten cute funsheets (see above) in this humorous St. Patrick’s Day bundle. Students have really enjoyed these pages and learned some theory, too! To save you some time, answer sheets are included for the pages that take a long time to review. There is also another set called Shamrock Activity Sheets that has more material for elementary and late elementary students. Some of the pages in both are:
- Leprechaun Mix Up (identify incorrect symbols)
- Find the Leprechaun’s Tricks (circle incorrect rhythm notation in a tune)
- Leprechauns vs. Gnomes (note reading)
- Return the Missing Bar Lines (rhythm)
- Shamrock Crossword Puzzle (uses notes on the staff)
- Shamrock Intervals (identify easy intervals)
- Clover Full of Notes (write rhythm values-great for beginners)
There are some fun games for group lessons or theory classes. The Pot of Gold board game has several theory concepts at 5 different levels. The Shamrock Keyboard Race game is played on the piano keys and teaches beginners the names of notes in a fast, fun way.
Shamrock Rhythms gives students a workout with 4/4 and 6/8 time signatures. Finally, a lot of students look forward to parades and it’s not too late to start composing a St. Patrick’s Day parade song. The rhythm and words are already there to make it an easy beginning activity both for prereading and students who are learning notes on the staff. If you’re looking for a jig for late elementary-intermediate, check out Jalopy Jig.
